About this guide: This is an official guide created by the team that develops and operates LangJournal.
LangJournal is a language diary app for people learning English, Japanese, Spanish, and other languages. You write about your day in the language you are learning, then use AI corrections and explanations to review your writing.
This guide explains the basic workflow. The steps are the same whichever language you are learning.
What You Can Do with LangJournal
The main learning workflow is:
- Write a diary entry in the language you are learning
- Review the AI correction and explanation
- Ask the AI about anything you do not understand
- Practice one of the corrected expressions
LangJournal also includes writing prompts, language-level checks, quizzes, learning reports, and AI conversation practice. Available features and usage limits vary by plan.
How to Use LangJournal
1. Write a Short Diary Entry
Start with just one to three sentences. You can write freely or choose an in-app prompt when you are not sure what to write about.
Try writing the sentences yourself before relying on a translator. This gives the correction something meaningful to teach you. For more guidance, see How to Start an English Journal.
2. Review the AI Correction
After you submit your diary entry, LangJournal shows an AI-generated correction. Compare it with your original writing and read the explanation for each change.
AI responses are not always correct. If a correction changes your intended meaning or an explanation does not seem convincing, check it against a dictionary or another reliable source instead of memorizing it as-is.
3. Ask About Anything You Do Not Understand
If a correction is unclear, use the AI question feature to ask about it. Specific questions make the explanation more useful, for example:
- Why is the past tense used in this sentence?
- What is the difference between these two expressions?
- Can you rewrite this using simpler words?
4. Practice One Expression
You do not need to memorize every correction at once. Choose one useful expression and practice it by rewriting the sentence, reading it aloud, or using it in your next diary entry.
Free and Premium Plans
You can start LangJournal for free. The free plan includes diary writing and standard corrections, while some advanced corrections and learning features have usage limits.
Premium gives you more access to advanced corrections, AI questions, learning analysis, and other study features. See the Plans page for current features, limits, and pricing. Store prices may vary by region and payment method.
Who Is LangJournal For?
LangJournal is a good fit if you want to:
- Practice expressing everyday thoughts in another language
- Receive corrections quickly and understand why changes were made
- Keep your diary writing and review in one place
- Build a regular writing habit, even with short entries
If you need expert scoring for an exam answer or detailed feedback from a human teacher every time, a tutor or specialist correction service may be a better fit.
Privacy and Diary Sharing
Your regular diary entries are not automatically shown to other users. An entry is visible to other people only when you choose to use a sharing feature and select a recipient or shared space.
LangJournal uses AI services for features such as diary correction. Do not enter sensitive information such as your address, contact details, workplace secrets, or another person's private information. See the Privacy Policy for details about data handling.
