Team Owner Guide

2026-08-133 min read

This guide is for owners who create a team in LangJournal. It covers setup, invitations, day-to-day activity, and owner permissions.

Teams are available for English and selected other learning languages.

Choose your team settings

Open Team > Find a Team > Create Team, then set:

  • Team name, image, and description
  • Whether to show the beginner-friendly marker
  • Joining condition
  • Automatic leave period

The joining condition can allow any LangJournal user to join or require an invitation. The owner can change the joining condition and automatic leave period later.

Make the first post

After creating the team, add a short greeting and share one of your journal entries. This gives new members a clear sense of the team's purpose and tone.

Use "Choose a Journal" on the team screen to share an entry posted that day. When sharing an entry created with voice input, only the text is posted to the team; the recording is not included.

Invite members

  1. Open the menu in the upper-right corner of the team screen.
  2. Select Invite.
  3. Share the URL, QR code, or 12-character invitation code.

People joining from the web can sign in and enter the code from Team > upper-right menu > Enter Invitation Code.

Posting invitation information publicly may allow people you did not expect to join. Share it directly when the invitation is intended for a limited group.

Run the team day to day

  • Send a short greeting when someone joins.
  • Share your own entries at a sustainable pace.
  • Review member entries and add comments or reactions when useful.
  • Use the team description to make the learning language and communication expectations clear.

To use notifications, review the team-related options under Settings > Push Notifications.

Automatic leave period

Team Details shows the automatic leave period. A member who does not post a journal entry to the team during that period is automatically removed.

Chat messages and image posts do not count as journal posts for this rule. To change the period, open the Team Details menu and select Edit Team Information.

Owner controls

The Team Details menu lets the owner:

  • Change the team name, description, joining condition, and automatic leave period
  • Remove a member
  • Transfer ownership to another member
  • Delete the team when the required conditions are met

After transferring ownership, you can no longer edit the team as its owner. Confirm the change with the other member first.

Handle inappropriate content or users

Use Report from a message's menu for inappropriate content. If a member should no longer remain in the team, open Team Details > menu > Remove Member.

If you are unsure how to handle a situation or a problem continues, contact the service operator from Settings > Contact Us.

See Journal Sharing and Privacy before sharing journal content with a team.
